catch the bus. The angels do the rest.

To Mystress,

Interesting. What you are saying is that a mortal can act as a
psychopomp for ghosts? (I can't see why not).

To List (and Mystress, but she's already heard my Raven babel).

I first heard of the term psychopomp when looking into the legend
of Morrigan, Celtic raven battle goddess. She was compared
to the ferryman who guided the Romans across the river
after death.

My awakening was a tremendous, death/rebirth experience
and to this day I get endless mileage out of all things crow
and raven. It might sound rather Western.... I dare say,
dualistic and linear, but some of us are just made that way
and don't have a problem with it. We like journeys from
here to there with an occasional, robust metaphorical battle
to help us get through the challenges of life.

The peaceful warrior archetype has helped me deal with the fear
of death. I'm not too concerned with what comes after (I have
my beliefs about where I'm going - largely influenced by
the Urantia Book, the pagan Summerland, my K experience,
a dash of 2001 A Space Odyssey, NDEs and a child's box of
crayons) but that's neither here nor there. The day-to-day stuff is
what I need more courage with. Those uncertainties of life trigger
a primal death avoidance reaction, whether I want to admit it or
not. A sleepless night, a slight headache, queasy stomach -
take your pick.

sigh....

Such is my lot.

I suppose now would be a good time to do
some fine tuning. Some of you may know that I'm
kind of resistant to meditation and other spiritual
practices out of fear of rekindling K psychosis.

Actually, I'd love to loose my mind again. The visions,
the "delusions" of an impending apocalypse.... the
unexplainable physical sensations... the band-spanking-
new person that pops out the other end... you know
how amazing it is.

I'd like to go there again (do I really need to? not sure),
but my life is very crowded and regimented (western).
7 days I week I tend to something in my apartment
building (as manager), I live with someone who may not
fully understand full blown K, I'm a part-time intern drug
counselor and to boot, I was just nominated to run for a
local govermerment advisory board.

One day I start buzzing.

"So, Mr. Perner, could you tell the press what sort
of changes the administration should be looking at?"

"Make the blissful peace pie higher
"Make the blissful peace pie higher... yes!"
"Can't you feel it?"

I get tossed in the back of a van.
A scruffy looking man sits next to me.
"I'm the President of the United States!" he pleads.
"I'm a pit bull on the pant leg of opportunity!"

Oy vey.... just my kind of luck.

Paul
