I will...but please do remember, I am Canadian. We are not dependent on Iraq for oil, in fact we export oil and electricity, natural gas to the US.

Unfortunately, the US does not always pay for the electricity. California owes BC Hydro about 600 million, and is declaring bankruptcy. My beloved druid works for BC Hydro... when we see commercials for Disneyland, we shake our heads...

Canada has already signed the Kyoto accord, is against the bombing of Iraq, and the CBC comedy, Royal Canadian Air Farce chose Bush as their #1 Chicken cannon target for 2002, by popular vote via email!

We also do not spend a lot on arms. The military is fondly referred to as "Canada's Antiques road show." We spend it instead on social systems, like welfare and medicare... as David recently suggested "we" do... I think he meant, Americans.

Canadians look south of the border, and we just shake our heads at some of the shenanegans the neighbors get up to... because we are too polite to say what we think, to their faces... :) Usually.

In Canada, making fun of Americans is the second most popular national past time, after hockey. Like hockey, for most Canadians, it is a couch potato activity, easy... like shooting fish in a barrel. After all, we get all your TV channels...

Making fun of Americans is also a major export, after oil, gas, electricity and underpriced softwood lumber. Americans tend to take themselves pretty seriously, so they have to import Canadian comedians to impersonate them hilariously... Canadian court jesters. Rich Little, Michael J. Fox, Jim Carry, John Candy, Leslie Nielsen, Dan Ackroyd... the list goes on and on. They go to our universities, and get a degree. An MFA. We let people think it stands for Master of Fine Arts, but that is just because Canadians are famous for being very polite. It actually stands for Making Fun of Americans.

We even have a TV show on our national broadcast channel, entirely devoted to making fun of Americans. It is not called that, though... because Canadians are polite. It is called "Talking to Americans."

It stars Rick Mercer. We don't export the funniest comedians, we keep them for ourselves, like the French do with their wine. We do not tell Americans that either, because we are so polite. We are good at making fun of ourselves, too... some Canadians have pointed out that we tease because we care... and why do we care so much about what you think? Partly neighborly love, and partly the painful impact US policy has on Canada... your invisible neighbor to the north.

Quote: ''Americans are our great neighbor. They are kind, they are generous,'' said Mercer, a 30-year-old actor-comedian from Newfoundland. ''And they have an uncanny ability to go on and on about things they know nothing about.''

You would never do that, would you Hety? :)

Rick also politely declined two Gemini award nominations for the show, shortly after 9/11. He felt the timing was inappropriate.

"While I am honored that the program has received these nominations, I feel that this is not a time to be making light of the differences between two nations but rather a time to offer our unconditional support to our neighbors, friends and relatives to the south," Mercer said.

   Very polite, eh? ;)
    Blessings!!
