I will share with you my experience. You judge if it answers your question. In the native American tradition, what you described is called "dream walking," although there are native names for it. The second experience you recall ignites, at a higher vibratory rate, in the third eye. Both are methods employed in healing and are quite similar. The first one we heal is ourselves when we dip into the alignment of the energy centers.
Just guessing, but you healed yourself through this alignment of an emotional attachment by releasing it. As far as the pain, you probably had a block in the third eye, which explains the pain you experienced as it cleared. Sometimes when a block is suddenly dislodged, as the leap is made in the two channels and surges up the center channel, this does happen. As you "hooded" you rose in consciousness above the crown chakra. Yes, the pin holes exist at that level, above the "white light," and at that level of awareness you are wrapped in a steady flow of Love, usually like crystal filigree flooding your awareness.
After a couple of the posts made that buy into the drama of fear, I'm hesitant to post here. However, I personally have no fear of the experiences associated with using the gift we are and those that are given to us. As you say, we are one. And we are energy. However, some others see differently. So with that, you may choose to employ this or not.
When I Dream Walk, I usually go as my totem animal. This is achieved through the third eye, however the consciousness is placed else where, it entails movement of consciousness on a dimension that differs from the experience you are asking about. Perhaps you would be more comfortable with my relating an exercise used to attune for distant healing. It is somewhat like you experienced. You focus consciousness at the third eye area and actually look through the third eye. If you did this once you can easily do this again. After centering yourself, bring the full and beautiful lapis color into your third eye area. Don't force it, enjoy the beauty of it. Allow it to pulse and spiral in a flow of energy. Now, place your hands in the ancient symbol of healing, so they form a pyramid, palms outward (in your experience the triangle). Then, place them over your third eye...(this is the symbol on the dollar bill... the Ra symbol and vibration-- certainly no accident, and no accident you experienced it. So, yes in a matter of speaking, it is very documented.) Now, just as you did before, look through your third eye and this time, "spiritually" step through. At this point turn and look back. This strengthens the awareness. This is very different than astral travel. You are protected and guided at this level of awareness. And yes, I totally agree: these experiences are gifts of the spirit, and we do have them for very good reasons...spiritually speaking. In your case, do you think it might have cleared and released an abusive drama you were a player in? Could that be? Blessings, Acara.
