Actually, they mean the same things as walking, to me. While walking
I've received my greatest inspirations. The first major inspiration
was a realization that when every single person in existence on 'this'
planet has a thought of love --------- ZAP! The end of this movie and
the beginning of the next...again. The second inspiration came in the
form of a Buddhist koan. While I was walking, breathing to my steps,
I 'saw' myself as a part of everything. I was everything and nothing
at the same time. 'Twas very hard for my little brain to comprehend
and that's the best translation I can come up with, but it was more
than a knowing, it was an experience. I walked home in 70-something
degree morning desert air with chills, literally.

that the walking, my morning sadhana, combined with my breath and
walking directly on the sand/earth road (grounding), produces a pretty
compelling energy -- that keeps me walking!

michael, hety and others who've commented on "powers" of walking,
thanks...very synchronous for me. i felt "unconnected" and slightly
depressed this past saturday, and had a compulsion to go for a walk.
it ended up feeling meditative and very cleansing. so good, in fact, i
did the same thing yesterday....now i'm looking forward to doing it
yet again today after work. i live in a slightly hilly town, but
managed to find a route with lots of trees and a nice incline...

I'll definitely try the breathing technique you mentioned, michael..

cheers..
