Subject: [K-list] In Surrender To All That Is
From: Lady Joyce

On 2002/11/06 17:31, Lady Joyce posted thus to the K-list:

?It is deep dark gray in the sky today. It will rain heavily. The clouds are
moving south slowly but densely.
They seem to become denser as they move into one another, slowing down as
they form a thick gray mass
in the southern sky. The sky behind the trees is thick with anticipation of
What Is To Come.

The wind is blowing with the strength of All That Is. The tops of the trees
are waving together in joyful chaos, first this way, then that, then back to
the beginning of the windy whirlpool which never ends. It starts to rain.
Leaves. Coming from everywhere in the sky, falling to the ground. Some
floating on the wind; others
hurley burley as they spin into their destinations, hitting the ground with
fury as they tumble over one another.

The sounds of the trees, the leaves rustling wildly against each other, as
Earth Mother shakes them
with Her joyous laughter. The soft sound of the leaves as they hit the
ground. The open sky raining one
after the other into my face and around me as the trees begin to shed for
the winter. The beauty fills me to
the soul. I feel blessed.

I come now to the path leading to Nature's altar. Why don't you slow down as
you walk today and stop to
enjoy the perennial grasses just a little closer? I slow down and look at
the swaying stocks of goldenrod and
other grasses and wild flowers that I cannot name. But I don't care. Their
beauty is not in their names.
Nothing is flowering now...all are heavy with the seed of new life. As I
walk slowly towards our place, I am stopped in my tracks as I spot a bird's
nest, right in front of me, at eye level, about two feet away from my grasp,
buried in the thicket.

I don't even think about anything but the beauty in front of me, other than
to laugh. My needy greed of the other day is gone; today I get to look
right into the nest, which is actually perched sideways in the branches of
the bush. I wonder how it survives preying animals. Looks like a good place
to perch, but so close to the ground? I don't understand why the bird would
do that. Later, on my way out, I will look again and discover that the bush
is laden with thorns, protecting the nest from any and all intruders. Good
thing I had already learned my lesson the painless way.

Today I do not head to the circle... Let's look over here instead. I absorb
my new altar. It has a small stream running through, rocky and wild with
underbrush crossing through it. You are not going to ask me to walk in that,
are you? Just look at it...feel it. What do you feel?

I feel surrounded by the churning energy of the wind, blowing homage to the
storm to come, the Earth
Mother building up to a climax of Her release. It rains again. The leaves
fall delirious into the thicket, on
the ground, around me and in to the stream. They drop so gently onto the
water and float along and away
with the stream, a little parade of color passing by.

I kneel without needing to be asked to kneel. I like to kneel. I kneel in
devotion. When I kneel I am closer to the Earth of which I am a part. When I
kneel I am open to All That Is. When I kneel, I feel connected to All That
Is.
The weight of my own insignificance bows my head in homage to All That Is.
Then my head is raised to face the sky and grace falls down upon me, as my
words flow from my heart and from my soul:?Starving, I seek Sustenance in Your Love
Thirsty, I seek to be Quenched by Your Fountain
Desperate, I seek Comfort in Your Grace

Quivering, I seek Your Steady Hand
Tired, I seek the respite of Your Shoulder
Exhausted, I seek Your Energy

Frightened, I seek Your Strength
Empty, I seek Your Fullness
Naked, I come to You In Surrender
