Not you.. sorry. Someone in private mail asked how to be "more involved
with Shamanism". Yikes.

yup, it rules out a lot of people who want to use the label but don't
really have the credentials.

Yup. Meeting death is scary enough, becoming it is a whole other kettle
of fish.

    Heh! Interesting.

Yeah, I remember reading abut that... but to me it seemed more Yogic
than pagan or Wiccan. A Wiccan may choose to devote themselves to Kali, but
it does not automatically make them a Hindu or a Yogi.

I was called to become a Shaman of Chacmool, the rain God of the
Yucatan, but that does not make me a Mayan. Chac's teaching were filtered
through my western mind, he used mythology I was familiar with, because
there was no point in my learning the language and details of a long dead
culture. I did get some insights, but they were mostly his complaints about
how the essence of his energy was distorted for political purposes. The day
I met him, he told me the bloody heart sacrifice was not necessary. Later,
he told me it was how the Sun King retained power, sacrificing anyone who
came too close to his attainment, and might threaten his autocracy.

I heard a Mayan traditional Elder speaking at a conference once, still
get email (spam) from him inviting me to take very New Agey-sounding trips
to Mexico... but I have no resonance with what he has to say. A lot of
savior stuff, armageddon stuff... makes me wonder at his authenticity, but
then, the old Mayans had a lot of "good intentions" to the magic.

    Yup, I think so. Blessings!
