Subject: [K-list] Miracles
From: mundaneyogi

On 2002/08/26 20:02, mundaneyogi posted thus to the K-list:

Last night, I awoke suddenly from a dream and realized I was
slightly hypoglycemic. While it's fairly typical for me to wake up
when my blood sugar get extremely low (some natural defense
mechanism saying get some sugar quick), it wasn't all that low this
time. So, I think something wanted to make sure I didn't forget,
which is why I'm sharing this.

In the dream, I was walking down the street, and people keep
mistaking me for a woman. As soon as I woke up I realized this was
just a mundane reminder that it was probably about time for a
haircut. However, in conjunction with that realization, I realized
something about miracles. They are associated with the lower
chakras, specifically, the third, or power chakra. I guess my
subconscious was working at two different levels simultaneously, on
mundane issues (haircut) and spiritual issues (miracles).

When I was younger and first noticed I had some super-sensory
abilities, I tried some experiments on friends. For example, I
found that under the right conditions, I could generate a certain
feeling in the pit of my stomach and cause my friend (who was
sitting next to me in a car) to jump up in his seat. I repeated
this many times, and he always bounced up in his seat and started
laughing right after I did the thing in my stomach.

Now, the reason I'm not giving all the conditions whereby I was able
to do this, is because of the effect it had on me. Afterwards, I
had a severe anxiety attack, and I don't want others to try my
experiment and have the same result. I believe this was because the
experience shattered the foundation of my worldview. In other
words, it defied rational explanation and therefore it freaked me
out.

Based on experiences like this and the realization I had last night,
I believe the reason miracles are not seen that often is twofold:

1) They reek havoc with either the person performing the miracle, or
the people that witness it by shattering their fundamental
assumptions regarding everyday reality.
2) They are associated with the lower chakras, and are therefore
tangential to spiritual development.

In the Buddhist Tantra system, practitioners focus on the upper
chakras in meditation, ignoring the lower ones. Jesus said, "Only a
wicked and adulterous generation seeks signs". This makes a lot of
sense to me now. In meditation, things don't really start cooking
until the heart chakra opens up. So I think to myself, why get
stuck in the lower chakras? It'll only slow you down and freak you
out or freak out the people around you.

Nonetheless, I'm curious to see if any of you have had a sense as to
the source of miraculous or extra-sensory abilities. The scientist
in me still looks for external confirmation of insights like this :)

Peace and Love,

Ken
