Subject: [K-list] The nadis and the serpent
From: rkshankar

On 2002/08/11 08:27, rkshankar posted thus to the K-list:

>Ida and Pingala do not cease to exist. They are there always.
>Ida and Pingala. They are not any kind of energy. They are nadis.
Ida and Pingala are astral-vital nadis
And, of course, they constitute energy, being subtle.
That is how, the pull of the aura sideways is experienced.

>>Ida and Pingala are astral nerves. But, Sushumna is an astral passage.
>>These two can be merged into the central passage permanently.
>>And, that is real kundalini.
I have loosely written the above sentence.
What I meant was only when Ida and Pingala have merged into Sushumna
completely
and ceased to exist separately as such nadis on the side of the spine,
the serpent kundalini can rise clearly up the Sushumna.
Otherwise, it will rise up and fall down more speedily.

>Sushumna is a pathway, a nadi, as are Ida and Pingala.
>They have different natures and purposes but all are vital.
Ida, Pingala, Sushumna are all astral-vital.
Ida and Pingala have contents, you can say filled astral-vital tubes, or
astral-vital sticks
Sushumna is an empty astral-vital tube.
The serpent is also astral-vital only.
When Ida and Pingala merge into the Sushumna,
then the Serpent is ready for launch up the Sushumna passage.

When a person does spiritual sadhana,
the vital aspect of the serpent gets quieted.
And, the involution of the serpent's astral aspect in the vital gets
separated.
And, it is this separated astral aspect that has to go up the spine.
Otherwise, the spiritual sadhana will result in kumbhaka and
other untoward physical disturbances.
That is why in Raja Yoga, pranayama has to be dropped after the initial
stages.
So, it is clear that our understandings differ.

>For men, the Pingala nerve to the right of the spine should be active
>And, for women, the Ida nerve to the left of the spine should be active
>So, for one to be active more than the other is the natural thing
The dominance of the Ida produces the body of the woman.
And, of the Pingala produces the body of the man.
.
> >How would I go about balancing this out?
>>Balancing is best done by integral yoga.
Integral yoga has nothing to do with prana.
It is entirely psychological.

I am no authority in anything.
Just shared my understanding.
I am not asserting anything.
Definitely not against anyone.

I have enjoyed reading the posts here.
I am the friend of all the list-members.

Thank you.

Yours in God
