Dear Ken,

Boy do you discuss quite a bit here. You "definitely/almost" nail the question and after reading your response, I believe there's no tangible way to ask the question!
For example, how would we as human beings recognize, in order to discuss, various individuals who bring Light into this world? We wouldn't. They have to have faces. However, you mention the causal, but first comes the astral, where I suppose we DON'T have faces but still recognize Who We Are. If we could rip away the veil of darkness we wouldn't need the "faces" as it were.

Regarding Jesus and being asked "Are you the Messiah?"...He did everything NOT to answer that question. He only said, however, "You say that I am." That and in John, "My kinship is not of this world." I don't know which translation you are quoting from, and you are obviously, IMO, correct in saying that we are ALL the sons of God. Meaning -- we are all one, no matter.

It saddens me too, that most people fall into "that trap." You have to admit, God/Goddess has infinite patience. WE are sure taking a long time to get to LOVE! But what's a few hundred thousand years in God's time? <g>

Tonight a retired pastor friend of mine likened our souls/selves to drops of rain -- individuals while here on this earth in human form but expansive and all encompassing dropping into the ocean of the universal consciousness. I still wish I would be able to "know" individual drops!

Love,

Hety

I believe seeing various gurus or even everyday people as separate
faces and bodies is a manifistation of Maya, that is, illusion. The
differences becomes less apparent as we go from the physical to
astral to causal relms. But as you say, we tend to associate
various accomplishments to the individual faces, thus enhancing the
differences and negating the oneness. What did Jesus say during his
trial when asked, "Are you the Messiah"? He replied, "Are we not
all children of the one God"?

This tendancy to multiply one into many can also be seen in the
mundane, in the use of different metaphores, different languages,
etc. by various cultures. But the symbol is not the reality! Does
calling water agua, wasser, or H2O make it any less wet?

It saddens me to see many Christians fall into this trap. Rather
than trying to realize the spirit of God within themselves, like
Jesus did, they think that a mental image of a bearded man or the
word Jesus is the only way to God. Yogananda called knowledge of
the inner presence of God Christ consciousness, and made a
distinction between it and Jesus the son of man. I have no problem
with people who use Jesus as their savior and guru, but I cannot
abide religious bigotry and narrow-mindedness.
