The question is, Grant ..

and I'm not having a go at you .. but ..

If the mind is the source of thought,
who is the I that thinks it can control the mind .. ?

This is what a lot of people miss out on when they
either read or try to translate the Eastern Philosophy.

True "No-mind" is an empty mind similar to what I posted
yesterday in "Transcendent Reality" - and is something
that just "happens" when "focus on" collapses of itself
into "pure awareness" which finally collapses into
what is seen later, looking back, as "emptiness" ..
which is not an absence of anything because the
awareness has become one with everything around it ..

People theorise all sorts of things about this state ..
but, it is very much like a state of "suspended animation"
where even the breath and the heart-beat stops ..
and the body is sustained by the energy of the cells
themselves .. a fact confirmed by some of the latest
medical research.

and, yes, if you don't understand what is going on, this
can be a scary space to be in .. it was for me at first,
but now I can "drop in and out of it" as and when I choose.

This is the meaning of the phrase
  "To die before thou diest"

because, clinical examination will show that you are dead,
but life continues and returns to consensus reality ..

In this space, ALL healing is possible, because there is
nothing to stop it ..

I have "worked" with a couple of cancer patients who had
noting left to lose and requested to be allowed to "die" -
but were willing to try anything (one was 90%)

In both cases, 24 hours after returning to consciousness
after what was medically confirmed as "clinical death", they
were both in total remission - and are both still very much
alive and in full remission, 5 years later .. and the doctors
understand but cannot talk about what they witnessed.
