  Back on this interesting topic. ;-)
  I think that the "hottest" theory today about "the missing link" (can you say so in English?) between ape and human is this one.
  At some point in the evolution, some apes began to develop speech organ. They needed in some way to communicate better with each other, and started to develop the ability to speech.
  That could also be the reason why they can't find "the missing link". Speech organ moulder away after death.
  So the say!
