Hi!

I usually have carried a lot of tension in my shoulder and upper back. When I do something that relaxes me, or when I remember to relax it feels like my arms and shoulders are being pulled down and my neck is stretching upwards. My poor shoulders are so used to being tense that it hurts a bit to relax them this way. I can remember in my teens when I first learned to breath fully...that used to hurt to at first. I wouldn't dicotomize the experience into either being spiritual or relaxing, it's origin is spiritual, and one of it's effects is muscle relaxation.
