    Elegant e-mail
Sifting through the thousands of reader e-mails I get each week, I am consistently delighted by the vast array of text styles and backgrounds. Reading a missive in 10-point Courier followed by a message in 24-point Monotype Corsiva (italicized and bolded, natch) is visually shocking, but I really appreciate the variety. E-mails with backgrounds, whether they contain rainbows, puppies, or bikini girls, provide some insight on the character and taste of the sender.

Your feedback messages are being generated by a variety of e-mail clients, with IncrediMail figuring prominently among them. I tried out IncrediMail recently and was very impressed--its functionality mirrors that of Microsoft Outlook Express, and it's entirely free. So here's the question of the week: Which e-mail client do you use, and what do you most like or hate about it? Let me know at editATnospamdownload.com.

Here are some comments from last week's dispatch about self-downloading adware:

"They stink and should stop."

A lot of replies went with "stink," while many others went with "sucks." I believe these people are against self-initiating downloads.

"That's easy, it should not be allowed."

The obviousness of my question made it pretty much the equivalent of "Do you think puppies are cute?" I promise to work harder in the future.

"The sites that do this should be blasted off the Net."

And wouldn't it be fun if the Web was one big Quake 3 game with Web pages being blown apart by BFGs and rocket launchers?

"I use PopUp Killer when I'm surfing around, and it seems to work wonderfully!"

A lot of helpful souls suggested this utility. Click here to download it.

"Just try to find a system to eliminate people/companies who use this method."

Lynching was suggested as a means to this end in some other e-mails. If you run a site that automatically initiates downloads, I would be wary of the occasionally violent character of public opinion.
