Hi,
I think 'the lessons' as experience. They exist because they just are. The Source needs to experience Itself.
It just 'Is' . . . 'Being'. . . Conciousness in Its purest form, more alive than live, beyond words. It is not an 'It', 'it' is experiencing. . .being . . .
A nice sentence is that the 'It' curving back within Itself to experience Itself as spirit, mind and physical.

Imagine our own body as 'It' for example, and the lung ask the kidney, 'Why do we do the things we do?'. And the kidney then explains about theories - sort of 'body religion' that concerns they being there. But nothing can define the existence of the lung & kidney itself, and what the purpose of their being, since they are part of the body, therefore is the body. They just exist, as the body exists. They can only explain the existence of the body as less-vaguely as possible as each of them is the body and vice versa.

Any effort to explain it in words are never sufficient enough. It is beyond senses, as the senses itself is It. How can I see, when 'sight' is me.
The nearest thing to bring it into sense is to experience it and just 'Being'. And to experience It evolving is one big possibility. we just don't know, or do we?

Just a personal opinion. Still very very much to learn. Hope my English not too confusing.

Neti, neti . . . not this, not that. . .

love,
arif

N.B. to emily - I humbly bow to the one inside you. And the lovely mind which preferred to enlight us with your beautiful experience, so we can all learn to ...

<<The body though is an illusion, and these things we call spirits were
suppose to see this illusion as reality so that they could learn all their
lessons, and then eventually learn realiity.

I'm not asking this question to be a smartass. This is something I really don't understand. If all is from one God consciousness, why are there lessons that need to be learned. That part never made sense to me.

  Respectfully submitted,
  Barg
