Dear List,

There was been some questions as of late about Indigo kids. Since this is a paradaigm I associate with I'll share my experience in the hopes it will be helpful...

I have always resisted labels because I have found that they are exclusive. The term "Indigo" is no exception. All of a sudden people start asking "OH gosh, am I an Indigo?" like it is some cool club every body wants to join. Being an Indigo is no different then being a human being. All types of people have a different experience of life but there may be some general characteristics that groups of them share. For example people raised in a certain town of Texas may have a diffent experience of life then people raised in a city in CA. Does that make them better or worse then each other? Of course not.
What the term "Indigo" has provided me with is a buzz word that attracts like minded people. Being young and hyper aware can be a very isolating experience. One minute your 15 and hanging out with the 50 year olds and the next minute you've outgrown them and are wondering who you can relate to. (Granteed age and awareness have very little to do with each other. But growing up in NJ they seemed to!) The term "Indigo" gives me hope that there are others who share my experience.
For me being an Indigo child means several things. It means that I was born into the world already pretty much "awake". Usually when people incarnate they forget most of their previous lives and perhaps even their purpose. I was born with these in tact. From an early age I knew why I was here and was guided by spirit beings and a sense of higher purpose. I was often told by guides that I needed to "prepare."
Unlike my peers and the adults around me, I went through evolutionary doorways at high speeds. I never skipped the human experiences that lead to awakening consciousness, I just went through them faster and with a great deal more awareness then others.
My experience of myself and other Indigos, is that we have a very strong bullshit detector and a desire to evolve. Often these two go together. It can be frightening to be 15 and realize that you know more then the adults around you. It can also feel lonely to constantly bump into others projections and limitations. You know who you are and the society around you won't let you be that. There are so many imposed limitations and situatins where you feel you have to "prove" who you are.
Of course being an "Indigo" kid doesn't make me an all encompassing wonder being! I still have gas occasionally, resort to childlike behavior, get mad, and overeat. Being human is a quite amusing!
The fun thing about being me is that I never lose track that these are experiences chosen for me by my higher self and even when I am behaving angrily or feeling sad, there is always a part of me that is very amused. It frames things as an experience instead of connoting value to them as being good or bad. It just is. Yee-hah.
