A dear friend of mine keeps pushing the advanced course on the frosh.
Her approach seems to be that if a person joins one of these lists, they
are looking for something - she's right. Hell, I came on the list's
(NDS first) looking for other enlightened people. Found damn few at
first.

But I did find a few. I also found a lot of great information that
helped to understand what had happened to me. You see, losing yourself
to find yourself is all well and good as something to contemplate. When
it really happens that's something else again. There are so many wacky
ideas about enlightenment. Even the so-called enlightened can be real
nut cases. I see one every time I shave. :-)

The Enlightenment Event isn't a tool that can be used to kill the ego,
still the mind or transform the body. The EV is a waking up, a coming
down off the clouds, a seeing through, and so on and yadda yadda yadda.

The character you were before the EV and the character you are
afterwards stays basically the same. It's the old finite in the infinite
/ infinite in the finite phenomena. If we all turned into Ramanas
staring at mountains, or Jesus's hanging off of crosses, or be-robed
Buddhas then this old universe would become such a dull place. The story
of you and I and all the folk is the real reality seekers want so
desperately.

This endless beginingless universe was created for the story, the maya,
the lila, the play. It is the so-called divine stage. It was not created
as some place to run away from. It is here for our participation and
involvement.

Last night I helped a friend finish up moving his bookstore. Somehow I
was handed all the boxes on poetry and religioun to sort and reshelf.
When I brought out the first box of books on religion I hollered - "hey
Rick, I got religion here!" His wife laughed and said - "don't bring it
in here!"

Rick's store is small. Smaller now that he has moved. So his stock of
religion/spiritual books only fills a few small shelves. I arranged the
books by major western religions, major eastern ones and in the middle
were the books by those who dropped acid. just kidding!

When we reached the point where all the books were shelved and I was
just getting in his way, Rick started talking and eventually brought the
subject around to spiritual ground. Ha!
I just punched him in the chest and said - "right there is the flesh of
god, that's the whole thing and all anyone needs to know."

Then we nattered about it for a little and I went home and Rick went
back to his books.

Ah yes! - michael
