Sudipt,

Why do you make excuses for him? Can he not answer the inquiries
himself? Are you absolutely sure that *all*people in western society
gave * no trust* in religion or god? :)

Hmmm, all those hundreds, if not thousands of years, western people
were exhorted to pray to their Heavenly Father who had His own
priestly castes. "Respect" and "submission" to Divine Will concepts
are not uniquely Eastern.

My intent is not about putting down another person's religion or
culture. It can be about transcending religion and culture so there
are no differences and separation of peoples. It can be about clarity.

Hi all!

I have been observing the barrage of flames attacking god- realised
and think that an observation is in order. In the context of a
hierarchical Indian society, the paternalistic stand taken by Vejay
is quintessential to the structures that govern us Indians even in
the 21st century, and very much in tune with the theological design
of Hinduism, with its concepts of "respect" and "submission" to
Divine Will, and its upholders; elders and brahminical priests. Sure,
it is completely undemocratic and inegalitarian, and 180 degrees out
of phase with the notions of individual freedoms that drive the
West. So do we still have the West staring at the East
uncomprehendingly then? Vijay is moving within the framework of the
society he lives in. You are attacking him from the view point of a
society that has no trust in religion or God.

Sudipt.
