Dear David, List,

There are *lots* of reasons for this, I suspect. :)) Sometimes the energy
is simply too powerful for the body to easily physically absorb--causing pain
in various areas. This *may* be due to the inability to circulate the energy
or to release it. (blocks). Hatha Yoga and other physical disciplines seem
to strengthen the body and spine, but both Gopi Krishna and Krishnamurti did
Hatha Yoga, and both had problems despite many years of discipline.

Sometime people experience Kundalini out of the blue with no warning, no
information and no support. One friend had angelic experiences while in the
military which turned to paranoia (not too surprising!). Another friend from
a small town during the 60's had a vision of a multi-armed monster which
scared the hell out of him. He had no one to tell him that perhaps he had
been visited by Shiva. :)) It's sort of analogous to taking LSD. One can
have good and bad trips, and it is sometimes wise to have a guide or guru to
interpret what can be frightening.

It's handy also to be familiar with the concept of metaphor. :)) One can
feel one is "dying" and be terrified until one relaxes and realizes that it
is simply our conditioning/ego that is dis-appearing, not our bodies.

Some people carry with them a lot of baggage from childhood--either abuse, or
religious indoctrination--full of guilt and fears of hell and damnation.
That certainly can't help make for an easy transition. :)

Or maybe it depends on what chakra is opened first! Mine was the heart
chakra, I think, and I've had only a blissful time of it--(not that it has
always been easy.) Sometime maybe we should do a poll :))

Or perhaps it is all purely accidental! And it depends on our physical (and
mental!) make up just where the energy chooses to take up residence. Mine
decided to make its home in the pleasure centers of the brain.

Or perhaps nothing is accidental, that the difficult transitions are simply a
faster, although bumpier, road *home*.

Love, Hillary
