I spontaneously hum at times during yoga, sex, and when I'm trying to
attune myself in a difficult situation. Sometimes during meditation as
well.

I never really thought about this humming,
but I do it. It is not a planful act and it used to embarass me somewhat.
It seems very different from the more formal chanting I've
done in various spiritual traditions. It is not particularly loud, nor
does it go on all that long. I find it to be deeply comforting.

I once heard /felt buzzing with one ex-lover when I passed my hand near her
body. She could hear it too, especially when I brought
my hand near her ear. It wasn't a particularly soothing kind of buzzing;
kind of like putting a vibrator against your funny bone- nerve-numbing
buzzy feelings.

It was a really strange phenomenon
and I never figured out what it "meant"; I accepted it. I probably
thought it was some kind of sign that she and I were really
"meant to be".

Actually, that particular relationship was one of my
more painful life learning experiences; I think my ex-lover is/was
a sociopath. She raped me after I told her we needed
to split, and she stalked me after I finally threw
her out. (Back then I thought men under patriarchy were the enemy and
women were just not capable of doing TRULY BAD THINGS. Oops!)

So, having thought about this, I guess if I ever again hear a mildly
unpleasant buzzing when in proximity to anyone, I will rethink
my decision to be with that person! This was many years ago and
if I heard a barely perceptible
buzzing way back then, I'd probably hear
a teeth-rattling siren now. Or (hopefully), I'd never even get
so close to a person who made me feel so uncomfortable.

It reminds me a little of
what Mistress posted about diet the other day, letting the k
sensations tell you whether a food is wholesome for you or not.
Why wouldn't it work with people, to let the k in your body tell me
who is wholesome for me at that time?

Barg, thanks for the food for thought, and thanks for reposting
your query.
