Hello everyone! I just recently found you all this weekend and let me tell you....I was SO relieved. I finally have the answers I have been seeking..although it has opened a new can of worms for me, so to speak.
First of all, let me tell you a bit about myself...
My name is Alexis and I am 25 yrs old...I experienced my K awakening in March of 2000. My symptoms included:
NO sleep for 72 hours
Dizzyness
Feeling of floating
Shooting pain throughout my arms and spine
Tingling of energy througout my body
In and out of Consciousness
Hearing a "roaring" sound, much like a huge waterfall
Moments of EXTREME bliss, joy and warmth
A voice in my head, telling me not to worry...exact words told to me:"you are awakening"...this was really strange, because at the time, I had no idea what "awakening" was
Major panic attack where I felt I was dying
Inability to eat
Eyes were wide and dilated
Experienced a slight burning feeling in my third eye area and a voice told
me"your third eye is opening"...VERY STRANGE...because I had NO IDEA what a Third Eye was until after the whole experience was over...
Very disoriented at times...felt I had to write in order to "ground" me...
My friend that can see auras, said that at times my aura was a "rainbow", which she had never seen before...
At the time of the panic attack, my friends were over and saw the whole thing. They said when they looked at me, my eyes were so dilated and strange; they said it was as if I wasn't there anymore. I started screaming,
"I'm dying" over and over again..and nobody could calm me down.
Of course, they called 911 and after being taken to the emergency room, they transported me to a Mental Hospital..where they doused me with downer drugs,
making me so sluggish that I do not remember the first 2 days I was there.
I have no mental illness history, had not taken any hallucinagenic drugs,and had never meditated or even read about any of these experiences, so I was dumbfounded as to why this was happening to me...Even the doctors were stumped. When I asked them what my diagnoses was, they said they really weren't sure, but it might be bi-polar disorder. So, they put me on Depakote (which is usually for patients with siezure disorders) and released me..
In the course of the next 3 months, I gradually started feeling like myself again and now feel completely back to normal again. I took myself off the
medication after only 2 months of taking it, and experienced no side effects once I stopped.
I've been trying to understand the whole thing, because
after witnessing people with TRUE psychological problems in the hospital, I knew I was different from them.
Last month, while at Borders, I literally stumbled across a book called,"Spiritual Emergency"...which is excellent, by the way. In this book,I read about many others like myself that experienced nearly identical
symptoms, who were having a K awakening. I started doing some research on the Internet,......and well....here I am!
I just wanted to share my story and get feedback from people like myself. If you have any insight to my experience, please do not hesitate to contact me:

Let me know if you experienced any of the same things I did (especially if any of you were hospitalized)....I do have a few questions as well:
Can I expect this K to return?
I've noticed that many have dealt with symptoms for years....My experience was very short (6 months).is this normal?
Is anything being done to notify mental health officials that many of their patients may be going through K awakening?
