I was born in California. Both sides of my family have been out here for
a very, very long time... since the days when everybody rode horses and
were loyal to Winchester rifles. Yes, they followed a strange, man made
goddess called Manifest Destiny west until they reached the Pacific
Ocean. About a century ago the Perners moved from the San Francisco Bay
area to help establish a new little town that my grandfather called
"Sunland." The name stuck and it's now a district of Los Angeles.

I popped out half German, quarter indigenous-Native American, the rest
Mexican-Spanish with a drop of French. I don't know what that makes me,
but my female equivalent would be an archetypal "California Girl"...
often dark copper-blonde with skin that takes well to sunlight.

I'm not saying I'm some totally bitchen dude, no, I'm quite average, but
most of my friends of European-Mexican-indigenous mix had strikingly
beautiful sisters (actress Catherine Bach is an example).

Both my parents had unusual, transformative spiritual experiences before
I was born and both had a deep love for the desert and the ocean.

I feel very fortunate to have such a heritage and I feel it was a factor
(how, I'm not sure yet) in my spontaneous awakening.
