Dear Herma and Jose,

I am originally from Delft (Love the place, love everything about Holland,
Belgium (Mmmmm). Love Europe, have done long holiday trips all through).
Emigrated to Canada in 1971.
Good to find out that the way I write about the Netherlands apparently gives
insight rather than that it upsets people. I obviously had to work through a
lot. ("Moest zelf in het reine komen.") Astrally I was in Holland last
night, yes between the showers... gosh.
I consider Rotterdam, Gouda, Delft and even some of historic Amsterdam as
more part of the dividing part. Some parts of Noord Holland are part of the
dividing part. But all this was a bit 'tongue in cheek' remember? But it
allowed me to make a point.
Actually, let me take this more seriously, all the cities and villages that
eventually had a stake in the East India and West India Company (spelling)
and other colonial enterprises came from division and had a dividing part to
play... Just like all colonialism eventually caused division throughout the
world.
The mud and muck in Holland? Rain of course but also... the shortage of
labour is really noticeable in the way the streets and side walks are being
kept up. Even the little home gardens are more unkempt than they were
before. Retired people who could have time to spend in their gardens or even
clean the sidewalks, are (still) too stressed to even consider that. I know
this is a generalization... But I visit Holland every four years and one
sees the changes clearly. Was there last July.

Any more Dutch people on the list or some Dutch descent?

Love,
Wim
