David:

There are two groups that I have studied with over the past ten years
or
so which not only discuss Kundalini, but offer natural and safe ways
of
awakening/expanding the experience. Depending on one's nature, the
methods offered by these and other groups will be more or less
effective
for different people. One other group which I had extensive experience
with didn't discuss Kundalini directly.: I my case, I had a long
period
of "preparation" during which I was practising meditation and was a
diligent and regular seeker. My main methods for that period of about
15
years were Transcendental Meditation and the advanced techniques
taught
by that organization. Like many groups, however, the word Kundalini
was
never mentioned, and people exhibiting the side-effects of awakening
kundalini were treated rather gingerly; in this case, it was termed
"unstressing" or the release of stress from the nervous system. One of
the advanced programs, the TM Sidhi Program seems to be designed to
gently awaken the Kundalini, and the group is fairly well versed on
how
to handle any difficulties. However, any outside information is
frowned
upon and there is, or at least there was a great deal of insularness
about it all. Many people would do their reading, studying and other
practises in secret for that reason. As I said in my comment on the
Board, perhaps things are changing there... TM is a great technique
and
I have nothing but respect and love for Maharishi as my first great
teacher. As for recommendations of a teacher/system to learn, awaken
and
discuss the phenomena, I would recommend two different groups, both of
which I am actively involved with:

!.) Siddha Yoga, as taught by Gurumayi Chidvalasananda ( www.syda.org
),
and:
2.) Pranic Healing/Arhatic Yoga, as taught by Master Choa Kok Sui (
www.pranichealing.org)

Siddha Yoga has centers in many cities and towns in North America, and
a
wonderful Ashram in upstate New York. The main process of K awakening
is
through Shaktipat, or awakening by the Siddha Guru. It's literally a
jump-start of the Kundalini, and the process can be subtle or
extremely
powerful, depending on your readiness, your karma, your openness,
purity
of the system, etc. There are many great books on the subject by
Gurumayi and her master, Swami Muktananda. Muktananda's autobiography,
Play of Consciousness is amazing. It's available in most spiritual
bookstores. Shaktipat initiation is formally given, albeit through
subtle means, in the Siddha Yoga Intensive, a program offered
regularly
by Gurumayi and her teachers. It can also be received quite
spontaneously by almost any type of contact with the Master or even
from
a photograph, a tape, video, etc. Personally, I had a powerful
Shaktipat
experience in person with Gurumayi when she looked into my eyes and
said, "Namaste", which translates as "I honor the light within
you"...At
the time, I wasn't looking for another Guru, but simply wanted to be
in
the presence of a Master. As the old saying goes, "When the student is
ready, the Master will appear"... So, I highly recommend that you
check
out Siddha Yoga. Their website is great and tells a lot about the
teachings, courses, facilities, etc.

Pranic Healing and Arhatic Yoga are taught in various places around
the
world, with lots of activity in the New York and LA areas in the US
and
in Vancouver, Victoria, Toronto and Ottawa in Canada. The website
above
will connect you to several other Pranic Healing sites in the US and
elsewhere. I find that the combination of Pranic Healing methods and
the
more advanced teachings of Arhatic Yoga are absolutely a must for me
in
the process of Kundalini awakening. The Pranic methods help me to stay
energetically clean and to deal with the often powerful energies,
emotions, physical symptoms, etc that constantly come up as a result
of
the awakening/evolutionary process. Master Choa has been very
accessible
and comes to my area once or twice a year (West Coast of Canada). I
have
had the priviledge of personal instruction from him and practise a
great
meditation on tape called The Meditation on Twin Hearts, which not
only
balances the chakras, but sends healing energies through the body and
out to the world.

I hope this helps!

All the best,

Terry

I am looking to have my Kundalini re-awakened in a powerfull way....
do you
know of any teacher/organization, guru, etc. who is reasonably
accessible in
the states who is capable of doing so and who would you recommend?

Thanks for the info in advance,
