Susan,
If you think that is interesting, then you'll be happy to know that with the
exception of Eastern philosophies and spirituality, "most" cultures and
belief systems did begin with the matriarchal power. With the wymyn being
the healers and seers. Also being sought out for advice and to make
decisions for the good of the communities. The male aspect came into play
out of a feeling of threat. It is stated in many accounts in history that
men could not bear the thought of wymyn being able to give the gift of life,
therefore causing jealousy and fear.Very quickly, wymen were cast out, and
silenced through violence. For in general, we are not a waring, violent
gender. What became of the wymwn then, you ask? Eventually~The Burning
Times. Never Again. Read Drawing Down the Moon by Margot Adler for
starters.Dry and technical in parts...very "matter-of-fact like" but
imformative. Blessed Be.

~Krystyna
