Hi Llewellyn:
I really enjoyed the link to the version of the Tao.
Making a living on a farm. In one of my very old
Organic Gardening mags there was an article on a
professor at the Tuskegee Institute who had proposed
and was working with several tiny farms, that they
grow or raise up to ten different kinds of
crop/animal, so that no one crop failure or market
drop could ruin their basic business. I interviewed an
organic farmer here in Minnesota some years ago about
his organic farm, (owned ten acres, rented out ten
more), that was in pasture for many years before he
and his brother took over. They made enough from their
organic farming and truck farming to employee 8 people
over the summer. In Nebraska, this man made money from
farming organically on 40 acres while people all
around him were going out of business on 1000 acres of
more. If this is of any interest, let me know.
Love, Lesley
