All the mystics, prophets, and saints can transcend the body at
will. Islam tells us that the Prophet broke through the moon. How
and where did he break through the moon? Was it without? No, the
moon alluded to is within, and it was this that Mohammed
transcended. On the mystic path, the soul must cross the region of
the moon. It is when we have left behind us the nine physical
outlets, and enter through the tenth door into the higher realms that
we gain possession of the celestial regions. We are indeed blessed
that this Celestial Kingdom within us has been bestowed upon us by
the Beloved. For every moment of our life, let us sing his praises
and be in his sweet remembrance; for we owe the very fact of our life
to him.
Beyond birth and death, they come for
the liberation of humanity,
Giving us their life impulse,
they unite us with the Lord.
The Sufis speak of the Aftab-i-Nim-Shab or midnight sun. He who has
learned to rise above the body and to behold this sun which knows no
setting, which knows no dawn, is the true sikh or disciple. I have
tried to express this thought in one of my verses:
This world has no control over my thought;
Even in the midst of night I know no darkness.
Bhai Nand Lal Goya has said the same, declaring that the darkness may
be for others, but for him there is no darkness. What has the
disciple, who has found a perfect Master, to do with darkness? He
has only to look into the eyes of the Beloved to know that for him
there is a sun that never sets. For him the road back Home, the road
which leads to the Creator, to Sach Khand, is clear.
