Perhaps we do, until we are able to "hatch the eggs" inside ourselves to
discover that love is the glue that binds together the whole of creation and
"Thou art That."
Needing others to be or look or act a certain way to fulfill our
expectations, desires and needs is bound to lead to disappointment and
frustration. Learning to let go of all of that is usually a lifelong
discipline. You can be right in the heart of love with a certain person, at
a certain moment, or in openings of the heart independent of anyone else, yet
still "fall out of" that love and feel empty and bereft many times before
truly maturing into the recognition that "I am love." The longing to give
and receive love can be a very strong impetus to keep working at it despite
shattered hopes and dreams.
