Subject: [K-list] Whatever...
From: Augustin Masquilier

What's in a word?

It's been a while I wanted to comment on that:

Augustin:>I don't mean to be disrespectful after all you've done to me....
but my
>local newspaper run a half page article about Vancouver (on the other side
>of the world), saying there was increasing problems with coyotes coming
>downtown and eating pets (...)

Angelique:> LOL!! I'm not offended. Isn't it wonderful to have wildlife
in such
abundance? There is a 1000 acre park that is mostly forest, right on the
edge of downtown. Coyotes and skunks, and racoons wander into the city at
night, to snack on garbage and ..uh.. cats, rats, whatever. (...)

"Whatever"?

Angelique, it is the second time you use that word with me (and I have not
noticed you using it in other posts)... and I don't like it more the second
time around than the first... ;)

"Whatever" here includes:
-cats as you said, i.e. people's beloved pets. People, I heard, are told not
to let their pets go outside.
-dogs: a city official commented that if one sees a coyotte playing with
one's dog, they are not playing but the coyotte is trying to eat the dog.
-children: their has been cases of little girls and boys attacked and bitten
by coyottes. (I am aware of one case in Australia where a ferral dog
actually "kidnapped" a human baby and ate it)

Yet, I agree that wild life is nice and human more than coyottes are to be
blamed about the conflict between the two. Humans have taken all the
available land and pushing wildlife into unhospitable corners of the earth
where they go extinct.

I am just curious about the word "whatever".... :)

Respectfully yours,

Augustin

 Vancouver, B.C., Canada.
Officially the most beautiful city in the world.

I still have no doubt about that.
