Subject: [K-list] ugly relative was The end of flaming

LyN,

It never works to appeal rationally to people who are responding out
of their emotions, even when it is oh so subtle. That is why food
fights are so bloody ugly. And yes, this is gearing up quickly to
battlefield proportions (speaks the voice of experience).

It used to be that polite company never discussed politics, religion,
and sex. Those areas don't seem to carry such a big charge anymore, at
least in the company we keep here but mention nutrition and
spirituality and it's head for the bunker till the holy war is over.

It starts with small, innocuous little salvos but pretty soon
everybody starts getting covered with Napalm.

I am beginning to think that the test for enlightenment or getting
into heaven (whatever you believe) is when someone can honestly say
they have no food issues. But who can truly say they have never been
seduced by the perfect peach from Buddha's hand or haven't been
attacked by an exquisitely fragrant chocolate brownie or brought to
their knees by perfectly made cajun prime rib from the hand of a
divinely inspired cook. (and notice the feeling words, emotionally
charged, that I used to describe these foods). Food is fuel, but like
throwing logs on the fire, people will defend to their death their
right to have quality, source, chemical makeup, frequency, karmic,
(fill in the blank) requirements.

As long as there will be people and food there will always be flaming.

I know that we will truly have found a self-realized person on this
planet when they can be found running a calm and moderate spirituality
and nutrition list at onelist.
