Some nutrients which are vital to physiological performance are only
available from animal products. These necessities are not limited to
proteins I.e B12 also known as cobalamin. It is involved with folate and
helps in the formation of normal red blood cells and myelin sheaths. Without
B12 new red blood cells may not function to have hemoglobin which binds
oxygen to the cells. It also removes methyl groups from folate. The
attached methyl groups are make folate inactive in the body. What's so bad
about all this you may ask? Well if those folate molecules are inactive then
your baby may be born with spina bifida and new red blood cells definately
can't carry that O2 you're breathing in. And without those myelin sheaths on
your nerves, they "talk" to each other very slowly. Nerve communication is
the basis for everything you do, they are the physiologicl circuitry of the
body. Animal proteins are the best match to our own which makes their use
better in the body. Better use means my muscles continue to function
adequately.

With all this said, yeah I do feel the need for animal products. B12 only
comes from animal products and it is a necessary vitamin, deficiencies aren't
pretty. Why are so many nutrients only found in animal tissues. Sure you
can take artificial suppliments of them but they are still based on an animal
component.
