I, on the other hand, agree with Margaret, at least when it comes to the
way I understand "ecstasy". When ectasy is is "pure", there is no real
place for humour, because humour requires some kind of contradiction
somewhere, and in an ecstatic state there are no contradictions (any more
than measurements/values).

However, ecstasy can come as a "result" of laughing at the cosmic joke...
somewhere within the laughter, something happens and whoomph, there you
go.

Yeah, but Huxley was not in an ecstatic state at that point. Laughing at
something like that (or laughing at nothing in particular) is quite common
with psychedelics. And with k, also... I find myself laughing my ass off
at some very abstract, weird things that I assume no decent person in a
sober state would understand (or approve). It's not ecstatic, but rather
more like the behaviour of a maniac. Especially when I start to laugh at
some "unpleasant" things, such as famine or nazis (when I am supposed to
be "compassionate" or "condemning").
