More on simple, if not so EZ, illumination. In my explorations of
spirituality, I came across the Native American notion that the purpose of
life is for each creature to express its own beauty. And if our purpose is
to express our beauty, enlightenment (from what I've gleaned from my own
peak
experiences) includes perceiving and appreciating the beauty in all creation.
I think Wim is right in his contention that we get hung up on knowing about
rather than partaking of life. Conceptualizing and dwelling primarily on
intellectual abstractions is often a defense against the mystery and
vastness
of existence. Feels so much safer to mentally concretize and thus distance
ourselves from experiential reality. >>
l'm afraid l missed Michael's post, but sure do agree with the ideas
expressed here. l've always been a "beauty" person, and the longer l live,
the more grateful l am for it. My k experiences and soul journey have made
intellectual abstractions less and less meaningful to me in spiritual
discussions. l see them too as a defense against what we fear and living from
our heart. Great discussion, El! jerry
