A Sexual Tantra Exercise

First a small warning:
This is the description of a sexual tantra
exercise.
If you have problems accepting sexual emotions in
your every day or spiritual life, you should
perhaps not read further. The same goes for those
who find it unacceptable that sexual energy is a
part of the Kundalini energy or that ppl may wish
to awaken or increase their energy through
specific exercises such as sexual exercises.

For those who would like to work with sexual energy or awaken the Kundalini, you should know
that this is an exercise geared towards increasing awareness of the inner energy known as
Kundalini and sublimate the energy known as sexual arousal, which seen from a certain point
of view is one and the same. The increased awareness of the sexual energy may serve to
increase the amount of Kundalini energy you receive and this is something to be aware of if
you have problems tolerating the energy you are currently experiencing.

The exercise may also simply be used as a way to increase sexual pleasure between two partners.
It may make you more aware of how sexual stimulation of one part of the body can be
transmitted to more feelings of intense well-being in the entire body.

It may awaken Kundalini in those not already active, so be if you don't want this to happen,
be careful..

It may make you more aware or awaken energies in the two lower chakras, and these chakras may be
unsuitable to work with for some people. If you feel this is not something for you and don't wish
for that to happen, be careful.
Increasement of energy, sublimation of energy or simply pleasure, it is your choice.

The exercise is basically an upstream kriya exercise, where the Kundalini energy is directed
upwards from the base chakra, the muladhara chakra, up the central channel in the spine, the
susumna, and up and out of the head. The main difference between this exercise and regular
upstream kriya, is that this exercise uses sexual arousal to fire up the energy which is already
there, but in small amounts.
The stretching described may also be
reminiscinent of the hatha yoga snake and other back stretching postures, only repeated and
performed in a continuos manner, with sexual arousal as the basis for the focus of the mind.

When the stream of energy has been set in motion, i.e. once the energy travels up the spine, it may
circulate and come back again up the legs. This is quite normal, especially if the Kundalini
energy is active in your body already. The circulation of energy from the legs to the head
may happen at regular intervals and last for a while, a sign that the energy is in motion, so go
with the energy and work with it. It may take over the exercise itself and if it does, just let
it. Go with the flow.

You'll soon feel if this is something for you or
not. Don't feel that you have to go all the way with any step in the exercise. If there is pain
or discomfort at any stage, consider to discontinue the exercise. Don't feel obliged,
don't pressure yourself. Stay relaxed and have fun !

If someone who is well versed with sexual tantric methods, reads this exercise and recognizes it as
something someone else wrote a long time ago and becomes thoroughly disappointed for not seeing
anything new, I apologize. :) You must then browse through other sources to find something
new. I'm not well versed in sexual tantra, this specific exercise came to me during Kundalini
meditation some weeks ago.

Introduction:

As in upstream kriya, the most important thing in this exercise is to feel relaxed, comfortable and
safe. The mind must stay focused and aware without being stressed or distracted. Given the
focus on sexual sensations, the meditative state of mind may come about by itself.
There should be a feeling of watching the events, a witness state, but do not remove yourself
altogether from what is happening. You may do that later. Go into the sensations with an
appreciative and devotional mind. If you want to, alternate the concentration on the sexual
pleasure with that of wanting to sink into and merge with the partner or other object of desire
during the exercise.

One does not need a partner to do this exercise, nor does one need to physically stimulate onself.
All that is necessary is an acceptance of the emotions of sexual arousal, an ability to stay
with them, to concentrate and wish to merge with the sensations. The sex part is only to make the
energy more overtly felt in the body and to use it as a focus for the mind.
The exercise can be done in combination with controlled breathing, including pranayama, or
body locks, bandhas, if you so desire. Refer to your own pranayama / bandha program.
The exercise can also be done as part of a hatha yoga regimen, or a meditation regimen.

The exercise itself:

In classical sexual tantra techniques, the man sits cross legged with the woman astride him as
in a lotus posture. This brings the spine in alignment for the energy to travel upwards, but
may not be suitable for everyone as it may be hard for the legs.

In this exercise, you lie either on the belly or on the back, requiring that you use pillows or
other kinds of support to help the body move freely without becoming sore.

1:
This position is the basic position for both men and women to acquaint you with the exercise
itself. Later on, the same exercise may be modified to include work with a partner. This
will be described later on.

Lie on the belly, legs spread a little apart, allowing you to feel the cushion or other soft
support underneath your genitals. You may want to lie on something soft, like a bed or a
mattress to prevent soreness in elbows, knees etc. Use your hands and arms to support you as
needed.
In the beginning you may just keep your head to the mattress.

2:
Gently stimulate the genitals by rubbing against the cushion underneath your belly.
Do it slowly and gently, do not rush.
Concentrate on the spreading of pleasure and
arousal in the genital area.
Move your hips from side to side or back and forth to increase the pleasure.
Breathe deeply and focus on the sensation of
pleasure itself.
Keep the mind relaxed, breath openly and freely.
Focus on the pleasure as it is in the moment, not on release, or mistakes, or your partner or
anything else.
It is better to go slowly as it enables the
emotions to be more clearly felt, broken down into their single parts.
Embrace the emotions of sexuality and try to
expand them, do not feel guilty about them or push them away.

4:
When there is noticeable arousal and an unwillingness to stop, visualize the sexual
sensations as sparks or particles of while light inside your body.
Visualize collecting the sparks of light into a circular center the diameter of about half an
inch or smaller in the genital area.
Keep focusing on the emotions of sexual pleasure.

5:
When the particle of light has been condensed, slowly bend the lower back and sacral area, lift
the backside up a little and then bring the hips forward like you would entering (if you're a man)
or taking in (if you're a woman) a partner.
Try to keep the same level of excitement and
sexual energy as you would in that situation.
At the same time, visualize the ball of light /
energy as being squeezed from the genital area, back towards the first chakra and then forward
towards the front of your lower belly with the movement of your hips.

6:
Visualize the ball of light then traveling slowly up your lower spine.
Help the ball of light along by stretching the lower back and pushing it along with your muscles
there.

7:
Keep the ball of light going. Bend and stretch the back and torso backwards, push your
belly and lower chest forwards.
Get up on your hands and make the back stretch
into a wave like motion that continues up the body.
Use the muscles in the chest and the breathing to
help the ball of light along as well.
Consider the sensations of sexual arousal that go
along with the ball of light that started in the genital area and try to feel it as it travels up
along your body.

8:
When the ball of light reaches your neck, stretch and bend the neck forward, push your chin down to
the chest as far as it will go as well, while exhaling slowly.
Visualize the ball of light, the sexual energy, pass over the nape of the neck.
Then stretch the neck backwards as far as you can go and still feel comfortable, visualize the ball
of light go up the back of your head, then out your head.
Bend the neck forward and visualize the ball of white energy dissolving into the air above your
head.
Breathe in, lie down on the belly again and relax.

9:
Repeat the stimulation of the genital area, focus on the pleasure, build up sensation in the
genital area and visualize the ball of white light.
Push the hips forward, stretch the back and bring the ball of light up the spine again by
stretching while keeping the mind relaxed and focused.
If you want to, you may smile at the energy as you can "see" it traveling up your body.

10:
Don't worry if you can't visualize the ball of light all the way up to the head or of you can't
feel any sensation of sexual pleasure there.
The most important thing is that you are aware of
the energy and is able to follow it up a part of the way.

11:
As the exercise is repeated from 1 to 9, the wish to climax will slowly become stronger.
Try to resist the urge for as long as you can.
The closer to orgasm you can bring yourself
without actually releasing, the easier the ball of light will be felt traveling up the spine.
Try to resist the desire to climax in a hurry.
If you can follow the energy all the way to the
head and out, it may not be necessary to climax, as the energy will build and provide a whole body
release which when intense enough will make you sleepy and relaxed as a after a regular orgasm.
Even if you're not familiar with whole body orgasms, try and repeat the wave like stretching
of your body and concentrate on the pleasure in the moment for as long as you can.
At any rate, go slowly, it is not like pumping the usual way to get it over with as fast as
possible.
Keeping a regular and slow rythm in helping the
energy upwards will increase the
awareness of the energy, the amount of energy
itself and the chances of getting a whole body orgasm.
For men, this slow movement may also be suitable for climaxing with semen retention.

To do this together with a partner, the female lies on the back and the male is on top.
Both become aroused and focus on this sensation, then slowly bend and stretch the spine to help
the ball of sexual energy up along the spine.
With a partner, it may be more difficult to focus on the sensation of pleasure itself, as the need
to climax may grow intolerable for either one.
This is why I made the basic exercise into an exercise for one.

However, the sensations may be more fulfilling with a partner, adding emotions of devotion and
serene love to the sensation of pleasure alone.
It may be a good idea to do some kind of exercise
to lessen the urge of climaxing before doing the exercise, either by meditating on beforehand,
alone or together.

In itself, the exercise is a meditation on sexual energy, and may make your partner feeling quite
unfulfilled and neglected if s/he is not consenting with the exercise.
You really don't want the partner to zone out during sex and forget all about you, wrapped up
in his/her own energy work. :)

To increase the power of the energy, one may make the mind one pointed and use all concentration
available to focus on the sensation, then use the focused concentration to search the inner body
for the gate to the Kundalini energy. This searching must be both relaxed and intensely
focused at the same time and is not easy to get a handle on. Keeping the focus at some area along
the spine will usually help find the place of the energy and release it.
If you are ready, the Kundalini wll assist in finding the place and bring about the release by itself.

When the urge to climax becomes intolerable or one has had enough, simply either dissipate the
energy by stopping the exercise, reach the whole body orgasm or go to climax.
During and directly after the climax, stretching the spine in the same way as described but in
rythm with the orgasm may push some of the sexual energy up into the spine and prolong the orgasm.
