Years ago I read up quite a bit about the Essene influences on the start of
Christianity. Have read pretty well all the translations of the Dead Sea
scrolls as well. By and large I agree that much of this "Christian
construct" is true. Now, ...if I would not have had and still get new vivid
memories of the person Jesus, I would fully agree with the term "largely
Christian construct". But my memories of Jesus's talks and parable telling,
suffering on the cross (not necessarily death), the last supper and his
transfiguration on the mount with Elijah and Moses force me to tell people
that there was an historical person called "Joshua" who considered himself
"king", "pope" and "high-priest". I also have vivid memories of the apostle
John.
