as the operator of a community at one list,
I am attempting to address a couple of problems
that are apparent with their system ..

the most pressing of which is the problem that they have started
to include banners at the bottom of their e-mails.

This is resulting, I am being told, in the error message
"unable to open file"
for those who download their e-mails to be read off line.

The other problem is that if styled text (HTML) is used,
this is regarded as an attachment, and thus messages using
html are not being displayed in either the digest ..
or properly within the archives.

I feel that both of these problems can be overcome
by ensuring that the attachments option with onelist is turned OFF
and that list members ensure that their e-mail clients are
set to send plain text only.

apart from this, I have had no other problems with onelist. ..
and they do have some useful features ...
apart from their cumbersome log-in which brings up their multilingual
service automatically whether I want it or not.

I feel that I have had no problems with your move to topica ...
and it is interesting to read the feedback from others
as I have considered moving my group to topica
because of their lack of advertising, and the availability
of using HTML or styled text .. which allows for easier
reading and editing of text because, as moderator, I can use colour
and highlighting to point out pertinent
content for comment ....

I do use this feature on onelist ... and many of my members enjoy it ..
but it does limit those who chose the digest mode as they do not receive
the html
mail.

so far, onelist have not been able to come up with a solution ...

I have also noticed a lack of activity on many other lists over the last
few weeks..
and wonder if the perceived lack of activity on this list is merely a sign
of the
seasons .. with many people not coming on list at this time ...

Trust these observations help ...

BTW ... I am not sure whether you have the HTML option set at Topica
so I will send this in both plain and styled
so you can see the possibilities ...
