This brings up something I haven't seen much on. That going around with
a wide open heart center is not always an entirely pleasant experience!
In an environment or circumstance in which there is a great deal of
hostility or other negative emotions and forces, it can be unbelievable
painful. It does tend to make one try to find ways to close it a bit,
put some kind of guard up, for one's own well being.

Another very difficult aspect, at least it has been so for me, is that
with such an open and fully functioning 'awareness', this love for
everyone and everything, you notice more than ever before the pain and
suffering, the injustices, around you, that perhaps you and been
someowhat numbed to or blind to before. And it can really make it harder
to try to live without finding yourself always trying to help 'defend'
others, do something about the injustices and abuses you now are more
acutely aware of, now more acutely percieve the suffering from. And
since much is sure to be things you can't do anything about, it can be
painfully frustrating. I can see how the opening of the heart center,
and the passion to do something about the suffering of others, has
caused many to leave comfortable lives to take up humanitarian or social
justice campaigns and efforts.

It can also play a part in major changes in one's life circumstances, in
personal relationships and work, when one can simply no longer function
in that environment for this heightened sensitivity.
