Yes, after having written the quote it dawned
on me that the quote may also be
interpreted as somewhat of a non dual
"teaching":
"I became one with what I was regarding,
the abyss."

Nevertheless, in the rest of his philosophy,
the idea of the loner against the rest of
the world trying to rise above the cultural
and personal limitations of the self
is evident.
