It's not symbolic, it's real. I don't know if what I experienced was
samadhi or not, but what it was like was that inside your system
there is another you, which has nothing whatsoever to do with the
you you think you are. I know that seems strange, but bear with me. This
other you is like a watcher or a witness, and this other you is the same in
everybody. It's not me me in all the bodies, it's the same as me, there is
a subtle difference. And because it is the same as me, there is no ego
there at all, no likes and dislikes. How can you like or dislike something
that is the same as your own self? You
can't can you, there's just acceptance. And it's such a calm and tranquil
self, no matter what is happening in your life in this physical body, with
which we all identify. I'm sure if you were being murdered, this bigger self
would just be clocking it, not get upset or anything. "Being murdered".
zzzzzzzzzz. Still calm.
Likewise murdering someone. "Murdering". zzzzzzzz Still calm.
And this other self is so big compared to the personality, the
physical body, and also I would say compared to the energy system too.
It's like a quiche, with the impersonal self the big cheesy part in
the middle, and the personality, the physical body, and everything else is
just like the crust at the edge, something that has grown up around the big
self. It's like the car parked in the garage. The car
has been in the garage so long, it thinks the garage is what it is. But
it's not.
As to who can experience this. Anyone can experience this. It's your
own nature, so if you sit in meditation to experience this, it will
happen. Like if you want to develop clairvoyance, you sit with that
intention, and clairvoyance comes, sooner or later.
It happened to me spontaneously, but I never sat again with the intention of
experiencing it because I wanted the glamorous gifts, clairvoyance,
clairaudience, and all that. Not very bright of me I'm afraid.
