What you wrote is very interesting and thought provoking. It's easy to worry
that in trying to make distinctions one comes off as saying "my bliss is
higher than yours" but it is important to say it anyway--we all learn that
way.
I think there are dozens of ways to reach these various states (and perhaps
as many different parts of the brain that are activated). Obviously prayer
is one and trauma is another, and nuns seem historically to have used both
methods. I suspect they both arrived at the same station, because that was
the station for which they held tickets.
The "coming down" of the energy from "above" seems to be universal and not
limited to the "Holy Spirit." Of course I would say it is the human mind ,
based on one's background, that makes the judgments about how to "translate"
this experiences.
Just some ramblings.
