Why is it that, in Western Society, we need proof?

is it because what we have been taught to 'believe'
is foreign to the essence of our bodies ...

Is this why spirituality is a search
  rather than a state of being-ness

Is this why we can never 'achieve' spirituality ...

What if were already are "spiritual", "enlightened"

and all we have to do
  is accept the truth that

"what we are looking for is
  that which is looking
and
  what we are looking out of"

What if

all of the spiritual texts are not telling us
  what we should be seeking
but
  are reminding us
  of what we already are ...

or is that possibility
  too much for the ego
  of the false guru

What if

our search for self acceptance
  is based soley
on the remembering that, as children,
  our parents could not accept
  what they saw when
  they looked into the infant's eyes?
