I did, a few days ago, write you quite a long post, but... lucky you, Martin
you... I decided NOT to send it. Maybe I should send it now as an
'anti-skepticism cure' (ever heard of Castor-oil.) Just reading that long
epistle of mine would be so spell-binding, but ... tedious and compulsive as
well, as you would want to read it again and again. It would also give
you..... absolute mental and verbal diarrhoea. It would flush your skeptic
system better than any other brand of reputable snake oil ever could. It
would cure your skepticism in no time flat. Think of the relief ... no
consti-skeption... never nomore!
I have to be honest and serious though, there is a problem. The cure would
replace one addiction with another. Instead of holding on to your
alcoholism-kind-of-compunction you would now constantly want to read my
posts and hang on to them for dear life. Also, and that is even worse, just
like AA members, (please, do not take me wrong, I am not AA bashing, believe
me!) AA members replace alcohol consumption with a lifelong endeavour to
stamp out alcoholism. You would be replacing your skepticism with a lifelong
endeavour to stamp out the skeptics. Now while getting rid of alcoholism is
healthy for this world, I don't think that it would be healthy for you and
the world, to, from now on, make it your life's goal to win over the
skepticists. Where anti-scepticism was a miracle cure (thank you Pasteur),
anti-skepticism would only increase the number of skeptics. (Come to think
of it, anti-scepticism is now getting recognized as the cause of numerous
new diseases, like anti-biotics. So, what now, monsieur Pasteur?)
Actually, and I am talking from experience, I am not on the anti-skepticism
crusade anymore. For quite a few years it took the wind out of MY sails as
I was fighting Quixote 's windmills. (The Spanish ones, Dutch windmills only
rarely carry sails). Those feisty crusades prevented me from doing real
work, spreading words of lo..... whatever.

As I announced in a previous post:
>>There is an organization that I just now set up called 'Sceptics
Anonymous'.
>>It is a seven step program ... hehehe...

I am now skeptical as to the efficacy of such an organization. So please do
not join Sckeptics* Anonymous. I now doubt even my own motivations.I also
doubt that it would work. It would exponentially increase the number of
skeptics and...
Also Martin, I'm sure you would be skeptical about this organization.

In Jest and Love, Wim
