Religion is just spirituality once its been politicized and "organized."
It's seldom ever practiced the way the original Teacher taught it, cause
the leadership has to apply controls. I used to give them the benefit of
the doubt and blame it on differences of translation. Some of it, I'm
sure, is. Most of it, though, is not so innocent.

If you look to the core, the heart, of any religion, you'll see a lot of
truth and wisdom--and a lot of teachings that are the same. But attend a
service, or read the books, and you've gotten away from those simple
truths. The original teachings get embellished with the author's opinions,
and if a religion is increasing in size, the leaders change the teachings
to form a better power base. Religion, faith--really, these are SO
powerful, and such an easy way to control the populace. That's why, in
some countries, religion and the state are one and the same.
