I feel that one of the things k does is in fact reducing the importance of
ego. The psychiatric term for this is depersonalization, even though it's
more often used to describe an unpleasant feeling than a spiritual one.
But when I look inside nowadays, I can see that I don't view the world
from quite the same angle/distance/color/whatever that I used to.
Something is missing, the thing we have all grown up with since early
childhood: the ego. It's still there, but it does not have the huge
significance it used to.

Ego is indeed important, in that it defines and controls our actions as
*social* indivuals, a component in the society-machine. It also gives us
something to fall back to, which is not exclusively a good thing - when
there is no ego to fall back to, one falls until one reaches a space where
there is nowhere to cling. Which is also the space of enlightenment.

That's the "usual" meaning of ego in everyday speech, but the ego in
essence means the feeling of "I" you have inside. I am me, this is what I
do, this is how other people see me, this is what I really think, etc.

Ego is not "bad"... in fact it's extremely uncomfortable to be without one
when one is not comfortable with such states. However, ego stands in the
way of enlightenment, at least to some extent. If I was not spiritually
inclined, I would want my ego back immediately.

Simply because K is not a specific, easy way to enlightenment. K screws up
our brains in a productive way, and steers them towards awareness. All
kinds of side effects are prone to happen.

Sometimes I feel a need to strangle all the people who write that "this is
not real k: real k involves this or that phenomenon". Nowadays I am fully
certain that I have an up-and-running K, instead of make-believe thing,
but there must me thousands of people somewhere who are not quite sure
whether they have k, and therefore question their own sanity. People who
report that k gives paranormal powers really aren't helping them, as that
causes them to believe k is not a real thing, while the feeling inside
their heads is all too tangible and real.
