Subject: [K-list] seemingly stupid questions about K
From: Pokimontaz

On 1999/09/18 08:15, Pokimontaz posted thus to the K-list:

In light of recent conversations on this list about altered states of
consciousness, drugs and their relationship to K and awakening I have found
myself to be rethinking my definition of K and the means to acheive it.

Kundalini is usually characterized by the coiling of energy at the base of
the spine and its movement up and through chakras in the body. Its primary
purpose is to "To be liberated from the limited bounds of the self-centered
and alienated ego. ( taken from
http://hmt.com/kundalini/kundalini-faq.html#2)" I have heard much talk among
the list about ridding oneself of Ego but to be quite honest I have never
really fully understood the necessity of ridding it completely. Life based
of materials, power and icons I realize is by no means a healthy existance
but isn't Ego a necessary component of self-maintance. By my understanding
of Ego it, when in moderation, functions to maintain balance of self. I
seem to relate a complete lack of ego with maybe no self esteem and
stuff...isnt ego the way we view ourselves and the ways which we all project
that view to other people? I can see how this world may be suffering from a
few ego problems whereby it is basing EVERYTHING on pleasing the ego, but
that hardly makes the ego bad right?

On to Kundalini and enlightenment. Enlightenment is a cognative
transformation. That is, a change in the way we think and perceive things..i
am assuming the way we think about spirituality. (That word in itself has
about a billion or so definitions.) Enlightenment i guess is seeing the
world for which it is...our connection to one another, all its cycles. I
guess its hard to describe in words. I mean Im sure we all have our idea of
what enlightenment is and probably point out ppl who are and who arent...but
who can put it into words? Acceptance maybe? Kundalini is then a
process by which a person becomes enlightened...but not the actual
enlightenment. Kundalini is the energy that facilitates the enlightenment
process. But you dont have to have awakened K to become enlightened I read
somewhere?

Now K itself and what it does to us. Why does it come with all these
"extras?" Like pre-cognition (although that would be a connection so i
understand that kinda), an emotional roller coaster (i feel like constant
PMS), all of these loops we get into (others have expressed similar thought
loops where the desire for knowledge and thinking cant be stopped, or
paranoia loops), entities?

As for drugs..since i am one of the ones who got us all started on that
subject heres what i think. Drugs can facilitate the recognition that you
have somethng wonderful inside of you...but i dont think it can spontaneously
draw out enlightenment. You can be in a drug induced altered state til the
cows come home just like you can do yoga til you are able to hold your
breathe for 3 hours nonstop...and nothing may ever click inside you. The
drug XTC is often compared to the feeling of connection associated with many
seemingly enlightened people but after rolling you may return to be
unconnected and feel no connection to anyone after that unless drug induced.
Sometimes the deep introspective thought associated with the drug can cause
a person to think differntly and THAT allows them to awaken to a new world.
The drug merely lifted his or hers inhibitions and taboos about the subject
and allowed thought free from predjudices....if we didnt have predjuduces i
think we'd come to alot more realizations...but thats me. As to its relation
to K energy. Drugs have the potential to make the user aware of his or her
innate energy. The user may then be able to learn to manipulate that energy
while not drug induced...provided he believes all that was thought about b4.
(Some people blame thoughts on the drug and dont actualize them later.)
Like K bing the vehicle to enlightenment...drugs can be the vehicle to K.
They are not the necessary components for deep meditative thought but help
the user become accostomed to such modes of thought. The user, if K
awakened already, has a better control over the effects of psychedelic drugs.
I think this ability to control the effects of such drugs is partly due to
the fact that as K awakens we must be able to exercise some control over it
in our lives. The awakening of K is an involuntary psychedelic experience
whereas the drugs are voluntary. Much of what I felt under the influence of
MDMA and LSD was only an exageration of what I already felt. For example I
have a close connection with animals, and recieve frequent visions. Under
the influence the connection to pets and wildlife was stronger and my visions
a bit more vivid and I seemed a bit more "insightful" of them.

Do i consider myself awake? Sometimes I wonder...most of the things which
have been described here as well as other resources are what I have
experienced all my life to some degree. I never had to do any work to get it.
I never really practiced yoga or meditation. I had all my experiences before
I ever tried a drug, trying the drugs just reiterated that i was different
somehow from the rest of the people i was with. It was not until last year
that I stumbled upon a guy at school who also suffered (bad word choice but
hey oh well) from the same things as I. he introduced me to the subject of K
and I have related to the people on this list ever since. Sometimes that I
think maybe I have just talked myself into believing that I am K awakened
although I have no idea where this process is leading me. but that too
doesnt make sense either because i have expereinced all that you all have b4
i knew what it was...so its not like he told me and then I decide okay let me
talk myself into it. I just "know" that the process is leading me somewhere
healthy and therefore i follow.

Any comments apreciated...well except those related to all the typos i know
are in here :) I was rishing it and didnt check it over :)
