Hey LyN!

Of the people who use or have experimented with drugs....did you begin
use
   before or after awakening.

Before, I guess. I smoked hash for a while when I was quite young but didn't
like it - it's very black, tarry heavy stuff where I lived at the time, and
would just make me feel stupid, sleepy and frustrated. So that didn't last
long.

Then I did acid in my late teens. Mostly in the woods/countryside with
friends or a couple of times at raves. This was a lot different, began
'seeing' the things going on beneath the surface for the first time; energy
things, archetype things and so on. I had never really read any
'spiritual'-type books - still don't, I trust experience more - so this was
probably my first foray into the world of 'it ain't necessarily so', as I
called it then. The problem of that, of course, is that you lack the
vocabulary to explain what you've experianced to others.. oh well!

The last time I've gotten seriously into drugs was when I was living in San
Francisco and a guy I knew had connections with people who made pure MDMA
(ecstacy). The trip, with friends, was really profound and shook me up a lot
but I still don't really think there was a direct connection between it and
K.

The only obvious connection I can think of is that each time I've tripped on
acid or E there's been a concentration of sensation at a point on my body;
the throat and left fist particularly, and a feeling that something
solidified is being violently broken up. For example, that first time on
MDMA I'd had a feeling at the throat for a month or two before, like a
block, or that feeling you get when you stifle tears back for a very long
time. During the trip it became so extreme, so crushing, that I thought my
voice box was gonna get destroyed, and I was totally unable to speak
although I wanted to. On coming down it let go and I cried myself ragged,
like a hurricane, and the throat thing went away. I could speak.
Perhaps this corresponds to chakras?

Do u think it was the drugs that contributed to

your awakening if you used before your awakening? And by the way how old
   are
we all on here? I'm just cuious...answer in private of u wish.

I just turned 30 and don't do drugs much anymore. Though, as VV said (I
think) maybe I wouldn't have got so heavily into meditation if not for these
infantile drug experiences. They do seem to start the process, shaking us
loose from the conventional reality many of us are firmly cemented into at a
young age.
And apart from anything else, I just can't get acid or E that isn't totally
crappy these days. Makes you feel mainly like puking.
