Subject: [K-list] No Secret Shame Here inre My Mother

Christopher,

I must say that I too find your diagnoses of women to be oversimplified,
arcane, and seeming in search for dubious negative connections. Yes, I'll
grant we have genetic, biological memory and are, in part, resultant of our
nature. But, who I am now, while it owes, in part, to what I've been party
to in the past, is much more a function of who I choose to be now. I have
found that the most important aspect of me coming to terms with my mother
(and father, and grandparents, and aunts, uncles, etc.) has been to surrender
my misconceptions about them, to allow them their humanity. My parents (as
seen thru my memory of the past) have become mortal, human, fallible, and all
the more appreciated by me. I have set them free.

Not creating shadows to chase,
Melissa
