    Both terms, which really mean the same thing, are inapropriate. For they
refer to a state of consciousness, which is not there. Rather it is the
brain. We can divide our mental abilities between the mind, which is the
conscious, and the brain, which is the physical organ that the mind and body
uses. All that is conscious has gone through the brain, all that we do
autonomously is done by the brain, except for those things done by other
organs, which are controlled by the brain.
