There has been a dialogue during the last week regarding controlling prana
which is reproduced below:

" Hudson Jackson II writes:

 >rely on a go-between like a spirit guide or guru?

Domchi replies:

>Why would you like to control anything?

>I mean, controling prana in that way has it's name - black magic. :)

Bonnie Johnston responded:

>On the contrary, siddhis are associated with reaching a certain level of
>spiritual development on your way to enlightenment.

>Directing "prana" for any purpose -- including that of altering your
>state of consciousness -- is simply what it is. You direct prana when
>you digest food, you direct it when you continue to breathe, you direct
>it when you walk. You direct it when you sit at your computer and type
>messages to this list. Directing prana for "magical" purposes is no
>different from directing it for "mundane" purposes.

>Labeling certain types of action as "black magic" (or "left-hand",
>instead of "right-hand") is just a thinly-disguised attempt to say "My
>way is better than your way", in the hopes of discouraging behavior
>that challenges consensus reality.

Hudson Jackson II writes to Domchi-in reply:
Domchi:
>Why would you like to control anything?

Hudson Jackson II:

>Now, that was a silly question. . . I have little control over me, for one
>thing. . . what's wrong with controlling something?

Domchi:
>I mean, controling prana in that way has it's name - black magic. :)

Hudson Jackson II:

>So, if I wanted to levitate myself, that's black magic. . . also
>self-healing by
>controlling prana. . . is that the logic I'm getting out of this?

>I know you all were talking about how some use it to kill people and other
>things, but that wasn't my intention. . . right now, for example, I've
>gotten to
>the point where I have to poke myself in the jaw or pound my leg in
>designated
>spots to ward off yawning, control sneezing, and the like. . . things which
>totally annoy me and which I have decreasing control of. I'd say now, that
>I'd
>rather learn the methods now so that I can do something cool for myself,
>without
>hurting others in the process.

>Which is better to you? Seeing me in total control or having a few
>bruises?

>In the meantime, I'll have to dig out the first response I got to this in
>the
>archives. . . if anyone has other methods, please let me know."

On the above dialogue I wish to putforth my views:

Hudson Jackson II was curious to know as to how one goes about controlling &
directing prana and. is a Guru required to work on one's own prana energy
? While Domchi prefers not disturb the prana energy and terms any such
attempt as "black magic". The rest of the dialogues are mere reflection on
the main thought.

The above thoughts comes with in the practice of "PRANAYAMA", where Ayama
is to control, a technique when practiced effectively results in increased
span of life and to some Death occurs at will.
Pranayama is not merely a breathing exercise, but is the process of
collecting, storing and conscious control of vital pranic energies in our
bodies. If one is serious about awakening of kundalini, then the effective
way would be to intensify and continuously control the pranic metabolism in
order to multiply physical, mental and psychic energies. " P " (Capital)
represents Cosmic Prana and " p " (Lower case) is prana in one's own body.
The ultimate purpose of life is to link up "p", prana of the self, with the
"P" the Cosmic Prana. Then YOU ARE THAT.

I believe (many of you may not !!!), moving through the cycles of birth and
death, again and again (May be some of you may not believe in Re-incarnation
!!!), the soul reaches higher and higher levels of evolution(awareness).
Reaching the highest level of awareness during one's life is the very
purpose of life, at which point of time the cycle of birth and death is
broken.

Domchi, I am sorry, controlling prana is a very serious matter, not just
black magic !!! LOL. Ofcourse better health is a very limited objective of
Pranayama (control of prana), which Hudson Jackson is aiming at. Suggesting
a method or reading of experiences in Pranayama/Kundalini won't do. Volumes
have been written, several millions read and thousands have been taught to
practice and just a few succeed. Reasons of failure are not important, for
success there are no reasons.

If one is serious of practice, GURU IS A MUST, for Pranayama, Awakening of
Kundalini and working with it. At this point, I would like to share couple
of my experience:

1. Ten years ago, I took initiation to "Kundalini Yoga" from my Guru, a
Yoga expert. Then he asked me to close my eyes as he placed his palm on my
head. A wonderful event I was witnessing….I was enjoying the sight of
Sahasrara Chakra(A thousand Petalled lotus) at the crown in my head- the
golden yellow petals, glowing …. For about a minute or so the experience
continued. I was dumbstruck …What I had read & heard, I saw with closed
eyes, with the grace & help of my GURU.

2. About 7 year ago, my son aged then 11 years, was hospitalized and
undergone a major surgery. My Guru came over to enquire about my son's
health. During that meeting my son wanted to ask a question to my Guru.
Guru said "Go ahead son, Ask ", but my son wanted that he would prefer only
to convey from his mind to the Guru's mind, a sort of Telepathy. Guru
smiled and said "No problem". My son was asked to close his eyes and the
Guru kept his two fingers (Index and Middle) on the closed eyes and my son
mentally conveyed his question (which I was not aware then) and the Guru
said "Go ahead and see, what you wanted…" and my son was satisfied with the
answer he got.

I was curious, as my Guru left, I asked my son on the Telepathy he had. The
Guru with his Prana & Kundalini power, my son witnessed, with both eyes
closed, a thumb size bright flame around the location of the heart.

The above experiences are very personal to me. All my doubts vanished. My
Guru had was in fact controlled & directed the prana… linked the small "p"
with "P" Cosmic prana.

Controlling & Directing prana is possible by rigorous practice under
guidance of a GURU. One has to reach a stage where he no longer breaths the
normal way(through left & right nostril- technically Ida & Pingala), but use
Sushumna nadi(the heavenly way) the channel in the subtle body. As long as
one breaths this way, he will be in a position to control and direct the
prana. To achieve this the Kundalini force should break open the three
knots (Spine base, at the navel & point between the eyebrow).

It's all practice…practice… practice………….. please do not indulge in
anything else.

Warm regards & love

Gopal
