There definitely is, TeeGee, and I thank you very much
for sharing that symbolic story about me. :)

[Note that I, having been planted backwards, am being true
to my nature by saying something appropriately 'against
the grain'. I was, after all, born with Mars-retrograde
(going backwards) in Aquarius, so in full devotion to the
Lord, I am simply following orders.]

Now, perhaps, I will continue my symbolic adventure by
demonstrating that whole point in being planted backwards
is so that others can watch what's coming out of my behind,
while I continue my own path up the mountain. Some may call
that 'being a leader'. But since I can't see beyond my own
mountainous issues, I just figure I'll deal with it as Fate.

Which appropriately brings me back to this whole discussion
of 'astrology and karma'. Obviously I have an issue with
this issue, b/c I keep posting about it, and i may as well
keep posting about it so that everyone else can see what
a dunce I am and offer their alms in the form of
'corrections'.

(...which I would of course appreciate, as any of you should
know if you've been paying attention to my cries for further
ego-depletion and humiliation. In the past few days I've been
'accused' of being bouncy, funny, witty, wise, and wonderful,
when 'in truth' I AM none of those, except to 'the Perceiver'.
I must however express my gratitude for at least two bright
occurrences, which were Jan's subtle hints that I am a 'sore'
and my friend Valerie's questioning of my motives. But you
all express your love in your own individually love-ly ways,
and the announcement of 'Love Bomb' sessions was hardly
necessary, since my own narcissistic imagination was already
convinced that you were doing this to me all along. I'm still
confused tho as to why Angelique hasn't come out to crop me
further into oblivion, when I'm such an obvious case of
  'bottom-ness'.)

Anyway, Astrology and Karma... I guess its part of my
karma that I used to be an astrologer, and I think some
of my old blabber is still floating around the Web
somewhere. Lately it's gotten to be too fuzzy for me
to be of much use but one thing that hasn't escaped my
attachment yet is a general worldview of astrology as
a model of the Self, or at least the Ego part of the Self
if your perspective sees them as different... Or Karma,
Or Dharma, or whatever part of 'the Universe' you want to
focus on as a universe-in-itself... Everything in that
universe can be 'symbolized by' or 'mapped to' corresponding
elements in an astrological chart... and by meditating on the
relationships between the elements in the chart, insights
can be drawn between the dynamics of other things in the
universe. In this way, it's an oracle, like the I Ching.
And oddly enough, at least for people skilled in
'interpreting'
  the charts, "it works".

The funny thing about astrology tho, as 'everyone knows',
is that it claims *physical connections* -- the most curious
one being TIME, the '4th dimension'. How could a person born
precisely at (location coordinates, time coordinates)
exhibit characteristics that a skilled astrologer can guess
by examining the relative locations of objects in the sky
  viewed from coordinates (x,y,z,t)? I don't have a definite
idea, but I figured I should display my understanding so
everyone can tell me what I shouldn't worry about so much.

'What goes around comes around...' In another post, I
  described Gears-in-God's-Watch-ful-Eye with 'mental notes'
attached as a way of seeing Karma from a NOW perspective.
At any instant, you look and see what notes have 'come around'
and 'process them'. Sometimes you're scrambling to put them
back on the same wheels you found them. Sometimes you'll
have a system for putting certain types of notes on certain
other wheels to 'correct' them. Sometimes you're either
burned out or simply content to watch the wheels spin.
But no matter what you do, the wheels keep spinning, and the
very notes you put on the wheels 'for future reference'
keep coming back in strange syncopated rhythms. Perhaps
you could call that Karma. (and Music as well ;)) hmmm...

So if you buy that metaphor - remembering that you might
be more enlightened if you don't, haha - then you can ask
"What was the first 'karmic song' I ever heard, and how was
  I affected?"

Jan brought up the perspective of 'old sores' from our
childhood that we've learned to avoid -- as in every time
you see the 'old sore' coming back around, you close your
eyes, or bat it back around the circle, or take the first
'exit' that comes around, or grin and bear it until a 'sign'
appears that tells you that everything's ok again. Seems
to me that most of modern psychology comes from this
perspective, starting from "Tell me about your mother".
Looking at it from a perspective of spiritual 'oneness',
the question resembles "When was the first time you
discovered 'reality' as *different* from anything else?"
When did you first notice it smacking you in the face
saying "YOU can't do/have/say/be THAT!" and imprinting
you with your first piece of worldly knowledge --- your
Fundamental Guilt as they say, away from which you ran
to 'happily' build a future on the OTHER side of the fence,
until the next eviction notice swings around, dividing
your property over and over until you're 'happily' left
with your own 'niche' in the world.

That's an approach. That's a perspective. In astrology
that could related to the "Saturn is the symbol of Karma"
approach, as Saturn signifies limitations, obstructions,
ties, bindings, attachments, ego, ... whoa, wait a second,
it looks like you're about to cover everything Rik. You
should stop and just say that when we look at "anything"
from the perspective of "limitations", astrologers symbolize
that by referring to Saturn. Ok, done.

Actually I was wanting to share what seems more like the
Modern Western approach and then relate it to 'gears'.
You may or may not have noticed that several times in this
overly-long spammage, I 'pulled a Domchi' and analyzed
different 'types' of something, like whether you do
'this #1', or 'that #1', or 'this #2', or...etc. In the
'modern approach' this is what astrology is all about.
The Zodiac (Aries, Taurus, Gemini, etc.) is basically
a devilishly deep mandala of ways to philosophically
break things into 12 (or 6 or 4 or 3 or 2 or 1) counter-
parts. This happens on the K-list all the time. Whenever
someone says "well I could Have Cake, or I could Eat It..."
Some 'detached' member has to point out, "no, there's a third
choice, to 'neither Have Cake nor Eat It'..." And then
an 'integration by paradox' type like TeeGee comes up with an
elegant way that it's possible to Have Cake AND Eat It, Too.
Then a 'master of distraction' type like me has to yak about
something irrelevant like "There will be Nothing for dessert",
which is just my loving way of hinting that there are three
courses (or three meals) which makes twelve (4x3) in all.
  A Zodiac of possibilities.

So anyway, you've got these 'planets' in you... 'facets'
of you... and each of them has kind of a 'personality' or
worldview or rhythm or energy or 'niche' that they perhaps
developed thru their Freudian slips in Roman mythology.
  Just like you, maybe...

And right as you were 'born' into your current body (if
applicable) some 'situation' existed with the planets.
Maybe Jupiter was hanging out at Mercury's place pretending
to be Mars in order to attract Venus, unaware that
at that moment Pluto was over at *Jupiter's* place with
Venus, and the Moon was watching thru the window.
You could probably see how that could scar a person from
birth! ;) Unless your Sun (expressive side) is somehow
detached from it all, such as if he was filming a movie.
Or if your Mars (motivation) really gets a kick out of
this scenario. Or if your Mercury (mental/communicative
side) sees it as something great to yap about or
analyze. In the right Moon (mood) it could turn into
a great story... etc. Sure Saturn, "the Strangler",
probably complained about 'how all this is going to affect
my Karma' but Saturn's not one to do anything about it
anyway -- the other planets do. What 'options' existed,
given what Mars wants to do, what Venus sees in the mirror,
how long it's been since Pluto got laid, etc...
  all make the fundamantal "imprint".

And those "mental notes" imprinted on you at birth get
sent back around those wheels according to how you "process"
them in that first moment. Maybe before birth, one of those
'planets' was assigned the job of processing memos, and
depending on the personality of the planet and the
perspective it had at the moment, you may to this day be
receiving a nicely typed and ordered set of notes at a
comfortable rhythm, or... If instead it looks like you got
stuck with a temp on a bad acid trip, you may be interested
in which planet was manager that day, and who he screwed to
get the job. It's all in the chart. :)

But whether or not people ever 'transcend the chart' and
if it really matters... I'll just say that I've seen the
chart action happening in me all the time, except when I
wasn't paying attention to 'it'. Whoever constructed my
'chart' made sure that I'd really love or grow to love many
parts of me, and that I'd find certain categories of things
to complain about and try to change. Like, no kidding...
  Same as anybody.

Yes, definitely I think what I most appreciate about what
astrology's helped *me* with on my 'path' is the ability
simply to see any person as a "Given". You take a good
look at the chart of any 'great' person, like say, the
Dalai Lama, and you see the same sets of things --
Planets!... in relationship to each other... just like me.
He's a person who happened to be born at a certain time
and place with a certain set of issues... just like me.
His 'suffering' at trying to solve those issues caused him
to develop a certain focus which outwardly manifests as
personal 'quirks', which endears him to certain people,
while others 'just don't get him'. Just like anybody.
  Just like me.

Anyway, I obviously like to think and write.
(many mercury-mars-type connections in my chart ;)
Feel free to borrow or steal my perspectives if you like,
and if you bug me enough I may even let you have it.
I'll even take monetary bids for it. But really, a few
strategically-written put-downs would hit the spot nicely.

 thanks for listening, Love...
  rik

ps. i left something out... (ie. this 'oft-asked question'
came back around into my auditory space)

"how exactly do you think the 'planets' affect you?"

    To summarize...

"The Planets are IN us"... as 'sides' of us...
Each side, at any moment, is relating to the other
sides from a certain perspective, in a certain mood,
at a certain frequency, with a certain rhythm...
...while performing some 'job' or function or purpose
      ...in some environment or situation
...with certain types of tools or useful medium
And naturally, some of these sides will be able to relate
easily, some not... this may depend on how the state of
    'communication' between them develops...
For some, the 'message-passing' will be perfectly
    in sync and harmonized nicely...
For some, the messages may always clash...
For some, the messages will be at such incompatible
timings that a 'modem' is needed
For some, the waves of messages 'resonate' and become
    too much to handle.
For some, the message timings are off just enough to
throw each other off every few cycles.
For some, the message timings are different, but
somehow compatible enough to make things work.
 Etcetera, etcetera...

Anyone who can figure out exactly what I need or don't need
and provide or remove it will be 'greatly appreciated' :)
Personal replies can be sent directly to hey_rikATnospamyahoo.com.

And anyone who is offended by this hyperanalytical display
    of enjoying-being-stuck-in-a-rut is also 'greatly
appreciated' b/c you are correct to be so... :)

   Wow, 14K...
