Dear Uwe,

My experience tells me you are right: a fast will accelerate the clearing
activity of the kundalini. I have done short fasts since k activity began.
My advice is to be a little cautious about it, not fasting for too long.
If the k activity is not too intense for you at this time, you are probably
safe for a short fast.

Another alternative is an ayurvedic cleansing, panchakarma. Vasant Lad has
a book which gives a clear description of a panchakarma routine you can
follow at home. The book is _Ayurvedic Home Remedies_, just published this
year. The panchakarma routine involves eating ghee in the mornings for
several days, which is said to loosen impurities, then eating a very light,
simple, easy-to-digest diet for several days, basically mung dal, to give
the system a chance to clear itself.

My experiences with the panchakarma routine have been very good. It clears
out a lot more garbage than a short fast. I would stress paying very close
attention to your own experience and stopping or shortening the procedure
if you feel too overwhelmed by it. I do it for the very minimally
recommended time period. Otherwise the k activity gets too wild. Be
prepared for some very intense emotional clearing at the end of this
experience. You will feel wonderful afterward, but may wonder what the
heck you were thinking when you are in the middle of it.
